while you have your hair in the braids make sure you keep your scalp oiled and clean, it's the perfect time to do that since you have easy access. Also you should be taking at the very least a multi vitamin, what you put in your body comes out of it, but if you can try hf37, I hear it works wonders I am in the process of ordering some myself. Drink plenty of water your body is 90% water keep your body hydrated so that your hair will not be dried out. Keep your hair wraped up at night even when your braids get old use a silk scarf so that the cotton won't dry your hair out. The most important thing is to take care of your hair while it's in the braids so that when you take them out your hair will be healthy. Lastly in between getting new braids be sure to clip your ends, not too much just what needs to be taken off. Good luck.

tryin 2 get it down my back offered some good advice. But oiling the scalp might not be such a good idea. Your hair follicles will become clogged and unclean by the oil, hindering growth. I would say keep all oil on your ends only and the scalp free of everything.

The main key I think is moisturizing though. As long as you moisturize you will reach your hair's growth potential.

Best of luck

Okay, I'm no real expert but I think I know how to help you. In order to grow your hair you should leave it in a style that won't get messy for 3 to 4 weeks at a time. You can try a weave ponytail, or LARGER braids that won't take your edges out. After 3 or 4 weeks take the style out wash your hair and treat it with a hot oil. Then put it back in another style that you can leave in for a few weeks. Repeat these steps as many times as you want and when you get ready perm your hair and you should see a good difference in you hair length.
