I do not wear any accesories in my hair. My hair line got thin due to wigs/weaves from a few years ago. So stop wearing them over 2 years ago. I just changed hairdressers a couple of months ago and I think she uses too much haet on my hair . My hair has really thinned a lot. ..so I will tell her from now on only roller sets no heating irons. I am not sure if that is why my hair is thinning but overall it is has thinned. Tried Surge followed by coconut oil to cut the drying from teh Surge but it does not seem to work for me.
My hair has seemed quite dry also even after not using the Surge anymore.
So I just started this week with the following regime to see if it will help:
condition wash with Aussie moisture conditioner then put Biotene H-24 cream conditioner Every 2nd week Nioxin wash & condtioning Motions after shampoo moisture plus Elasta QP Intense Protectiv edge (on hairline) protective Anti-breakage strengthening ORS Carrort Oil on ends Mizani Rose/BB Castor Oil (alternate with these)
MIxture of Rosemary Essential oil/Jojobo Oil/CasterOil/Tea Tree Oil (massage and leave in for 30 min) once a week.
Daily take the following: GNC Nourishair Prenatal Vit Evening primrose Biotin 1 tbs Black Strap molassas Natural Essence Silica MSM I will see how this goes.
This is all a collection of info I have gathered from this site and other sites.
But my hairline/edges are so thin I cannot ever wear my hair pulled back at all. I have even tried DOO GRO on the edges but have not seen any progress. I will also try massaging the ESO mixture on my edges more frequently.
I have to wear my hair styled daily because I am in a job that requires style and a professional look so I am limted with my hair. I have been just wearing it curled all over recently (set in med size rollers) to avoid a lot of combing and brushing, etc. My hair length is to the bottom of my neck in the back, tapered on the sides.
Do you do deep conditioning treatments. Yes, heat can be damaging to your hair. You might want to cut down on perms too, how often do you get your hair relaxed? Surge do not work for everyone, I have even see a picture of it burning someones scalp and others it helped. Your hair sounds extremely damaged.
Have you looked at the site called www.longhaircareforum.com you have to pay to be a member but u can read the forum for free. There are women that similar problems such as yours. Click on thelink then click onto discussions, then click on hair forum. You do not have to have long hair to be a part of it, just wanting healthy hair. If you wish to be a member than do so, I think this is the best bet and people have before and after pictures. Don't worry, things will get better.
