I've been washing my hair twice a week and letting it air dry, because i am trying to grow out some old highlites and the ends are kind of fragile. I just got the damaged hair cut off, but it is still lighter at the ends and I don't want to damage that hair. So I've been doing deep conditioning and using mostly elasta qp products. I let it air dry and then flat iron it the next day if I need to go out. usually when I flat iron it it is smooth , but the last two times my hair has felt all ruff and crinkly, and been pretty big. Does any one have any advice?

Are you using a ceramic flat iron? I was having that problem with a Gold N' Hot. It wasn't getting hot enough to flatten the hair's natural wave.

A ceramic plated iron with adjustable temperature controls sounds like it might help. And some heat protectant as well, espeically if your ends are fragile.
