QuoteReplyTopic: Straighteners CHI now Anticurl? Posted: January 18 2004 at 3:33am
Hi, I did the thermal hair straightener CHI in June 03. I wanted straight hair but this was ridiculous! It was so straight that the ends did not curl in not even my bangs, looked like hay. After a few months it calmed down. I enough not having the thick curly frizzy hair I had to blow dry every day for about an hour. I don't even have to blow dry! But now that my har has grown out completely from my bangs I want to do something but not as harsh. I used to have the Rusk Ant Curl system straighter #2 done to my hair. Can I apply this to the grown out parts? And would it have any bad affects to the CHI treated part of my hair? The CHI at the salon costs $600 and the AntiCurl was about $150. I found the Antocurl for $18.95 I was thinking of doing it myself. It seems at the salon they don't give a lot of attention to my hair and felt I could do it for much cheaper. Any thoughts? Should I try this? HELP!
It is safe to do “Rusk Anti-Curl” re-touch on hair that had been previously treated with “CHI” because the chemical ingredient in both of these products is “thioglycolate”. Which means; they are compatible. However, I do not recommend you do this on your own!
1) First, You need to protect the previously Thermally Reconditioned areas of the hair with special proteins and botanical oils, otherwise the hair would break or dissolve! Remember, depilatories contain thioglycolate solutions at very high pH to do just that.
2) Application, testing and processing time of the reforming solution step #1 and the timing of the neutralizer/oxidizer step #2 is of essence.
3) Rinsing is a major part of this service as well. If not timed properly you’ll damage your hair to a great extent. It’s just not worth it.
4) Find a salon who specializes in chemical hair straightening. The ones who understand the science of permanent hair straightening, and care to take their time and pay attention to your wants and needs.
