Hi, Today's hair tip mentions how serums and glossers can build up to make your hair dull and greasy looking, and I was wondering, is there a way to remove the buildup without buying a clarifying shampoo? Is there some kind of home recipe or something that will remove the buildup? I've heard people talk about using anything from eggs, to beer, to vinegar on your hair, but I don't know if any of those are bad for your hair or even if they're meant for clarifying. I'm open to all suggestions since I already spend enough on shampoo and conditioner, I don't want to have to buy a special clarifying one. Thanks.
Apple Cider Vinegar! Definitely vinegar. I do a 1/2 cup vinegar with 2 cups of water, dunk my length in there, and pour the rest through the scalp (while bent over so the runoff can go through the length). It's not bad for hair by any means. A clarifying rinse is more gentle than having to shampoo with a clarifier.... namely because you can skip the "wash handling" step. Wet handling is one of the times a person's hair takes the most damage.
I'm not sure about eggs and beer though. Eggs are a protein treatment, beer rinses... hm. since beer is slightly acidic it may help, but it's not as acidic as a vinegar rinse. Hope this helps
