QuoteReplyTopic: Different Eyebrow Problem Posted: March 24 2005 at 12:12pm
My eyebrows started growing in differently when I hit my thirties. Some
of them have gotten very thick, and a few of them point in weird
directions. (My brows would probably look like the stereotypic Mad
Scientist if I totally left them alone!)
Thinking I was solving the problem, I plucked more aggressively, until
one day I realized I was one step away from Old Lady Eyebrows (the kind
where you have about six hairs and have to draw your brows in every
morning.)
I took the advice you always read from makeup experts and started
letting them grow back in. Overall, the result has been surprisingly good.
However, I still have a few funky hairs within my desired brow-line that
are very thick and point out at a funky angle. I smooth them down
morning and night with a wax-based moisturizer but was wondering if
there is a product that will firmly hold them in place. I've tried hair spray
on a q-tip but hated the feel and it wasn't enough hold to hold these
hairs down. I swear a few of them are as thick and bent as nasty spider
legs.
One cool eyebrow make-up trick I've discovered since I have proper
eyebrows again is that instead of using eyebrow pencil or powder I use
my mascara to lightly enhance my eyebrow hairs. It has given me enough
eyebrow emphasis and looks much more natural than liner. I use
Lancome Hypnose mascara in black, which works for my brows because I
have black hair and very dark eyebrows. I'm guessing someone with
lighter brows would have to find a mascara color to match their brows if
they were to try this trick. After the mascara dries, I use an old
toothbrush to gently brush the hairs into place (except for those spider
legs!) which also removes any excess mascara from the brow hairs.

Just trim those crazy ones and leave the rest alone. I've always been
afraid to use mascara on my eyebrows, im afraid I'll rub them by
accident and get smudge everywhere. What I do is take an old mascara
wand and clean it off. Then I place some of my hair gel on it and then
comb the hairs into place.
