QuoteReplyTopic: making clip ins question Posted: April 14 2005 at 8:54am
I have read metalgirls method of making my own clip ins. I have some questions however. When you order HH it comes in wefts already made. If you are not advised to cut them because of unraveling how do you make the small single wefts?? THanks
You can cut machine wefted hair and it will not unravel.
You can't cut hand tied hair, as it will unravel.
Whatever type of weft you use, you will have to layer on 2-3 pieces per track to get the thickness needed, unless you plan on wearing 16 or so single tracks on your head!
Please tell me how hair comes when you purchase it. Maybe that is where my real confusion comes from. Lets say from the outlet hair. If you buy 1/4 lb hair machine sewn, is it one long track of hair or several tracks? Tracks are not the same as wefts I take it. Thanks for the info!

When I am making clip'ins for friends I just measure their head and cut the weft, and then put four clips on the inside of the weft. It really thickens the hair up, too.
So, glue the weft directly to the clip? And those small holes on the sides of the clips, do you just take a needle and thread and do a couple stitches through there as well?
METALGIRL I need to say thanks for sharing your method on a previous thread as it was a life saver for me the other day. I made some clip-ins for a girl and her hair is very silky and im sure it was you that posted on a thread that with silky hair, if you back comb and put hairspray on then it makes a nest for the clips. Well i had to do that the other day and i thought of the disaster i would have been in if i hadn't known that. Thanks alot chick.
don't know what you means by gluing on the weft, I have never done this. I just sew the clip on the inside of the weft where the little holes are, it is really quick to do
hello from lucky star - have a nice day!!!

I have better luck with it laying flat with the sorta elongated zig zagging.
I've also been able to mount the single clip ones really high up on my
head even with them having umpteen layers. don't know if that's
special or not but I sure like it.
