Hey amm, are you ready to give us an update? How is the hair holding up, how does it feel, look etc.....have you washed? How many times and what are you using for care products? Enquiring minds wanna know!
I guess we're at the one week mark, huh.
The hair feels really good. It's exceptionally soft and I have had no problems with tangles. It can look a little mussed when it's rubbing against the back of the shirt but that's typical of all hair. It smooths out fairly quickly with one pass of the brush. I use a cheap Goody plastic one with little balls on the end of the bristles and it works fabulous.
I washed the whole thing for the first time today. I've only been doing bang/crown washing thus far and keeping my head in a grocery baggie during showers. Very attractive, that. ::cough::
I did not scrimp on the water temp because I love hot showers. Soooooooo.... the PH got its first butt kick with the hot water and some of the wave was lost. Not much, though. It was SO heavy when wet. I forgot how heavy this much hair can feel when wet. It quickly lightened up with one squeegee.
I used TIGI Bedhead Control Freak shampoo and conditioner. I then dipped the entire length of the pony in a 50/50 solution of Downy Vanilla/Lavender and rinsed thoroughly. I never leave it in anymore after I totally gunked up my WaWa one time.
I let the hair air dry and easily got a brush through it when it was completely dry. I would not recommend trying to comb or brush this hair when wet. Not even sure it's possible. I have no plans on using a blow dryer just to dry it.
I have used absolutely no products on it. I have Dome, Flasher and Biosilk but nothing has been needed so far.
All in all, thumbs up after a week. I've had moments where I didn't like it. I had some moments I absolutely loved it and would never consider hh again.
I lost one shrinkie on day one. Matter of fact, I lost that one like an hour after the install so I must have totally offshot my mark. Other than that one, I haven't lost any. I think they're holding up so well because I'm not washing the hair. My next wash will be scalp only and I'll secure the entire length of the hair in a plastic bag and tie it off so no water gets to it.
Oh, I popped a couple big warm rollers in this afternoon just to play.
It's outstanding, AMM. And I agree: Your roller curl looks even better
than the initial wave. If you don't wash it much going forward, I think
you'll find that it stays nice and frizz-free for weeks. I'm
approaching five weeks, and I've only blown mine out like twice, maybe
three times, and the hair's in excellent, almost new, shape. Sometimes,
if you're curling the hair with the rollers, that eliminates any frizz
on the ends (and the need to blow-dry or steam) anyway. It's also great
that you've had minimal or no tangling, especially since the hair is so
long.
Bravo!
