no silly thats the problem people thinck they can just wash and go. when you have tracks you need to make sure the braid drys all the way.. So that means you need to go to a shop and sit under a dryer for about 30 min,, its a pain in the ass.. i like the strand by strand methods the best..
I've heard lots of things about, like, "If you don't let your braids
dry all the way, you'll get mold in them." People say that about all
kinds of braids, not just tracks, and dreads too. And I have to
ask...has anyone actually experienced this? 'Cause I guess I could see
it happening...but I've had natural dreads for 3 years, and they're
very dense and solid and take forever to dry, but they've never molded,
or mildew-ed, or even gotten smelly (I mean, from anything other than
cigarette smoke or body odor!) And you would think that if tracks
molded, dreads would too.
Hey Rae, I know you're super busy, but it would be awesome if you did a thread talking about your dreadlocks experiences over on the board. People have some crazy questions.
I have actually experienced some stinky extensions. I think it happens when people tie up their braids whilst still wet and then leave them like that (warm, wet, in the dark) for long periods of time. I don't know if it's technically mold though. I've never actually seen mold crusties.
Hey guys, when I was wearing a weave, I used to get stink-head all the time! I worked out and washed my hair daily, but the sweat from working out would get trapped in the braids and weave hair, and I think mold was also an issue too from the braids never really drying.
In fact, I have never came across a weave that smelled good for longer than 2 weeks or so. It's a musty smell, worse when the hair is wet. My husband could most definitely smell it!
I certainly don't miss that about weaves! Also, because it was difficult to get that hair underneath the weave dry, it also increased the itching.
Its diffrent for everyone. but ive been doing hair for 9years.. I do about 5 track weaves a week. Not all my clients have problems with them but I do have alot of clients that do.. I guess its diffrent for everyone.. as you all can tell from the post above..
