welll 2 start, a bit bout myself..im 15, black, Jamaican (born and live in
london)..i used to have long hair when i was younger but then my hair
started breaking due to the products i started using. recently i noticed i
started doing my hair too tight, and because i tie my hair to one side, i
started noticing my bush was getting smaller and smaller..so i looked at
in using two mirrors and realised im going bald on one side!!!! The back
of my hair is slowly deteriarating and i have no idea what to do. My hair
used to be shoulder length, and now its jus reaching my neck! although
its mainly the middle of my hair as the two sides are loner than it..its
more like an upside down 'v'..also i used dax for men, in my hair as it was
my alternative 2 gel..bt dat may also be a cause of breakage in my hair..
because my hairs very afro i usually slick it back (its not pickey or nuffin,
its good texture) thats why i used dax..iz there anything that i can use
that can help my hair that has the same effects gel/ mens dax does?
Also is there any stylish hairstyles i can do to help my hair grow and
prevent me from doing i too tight? and finally, i started taking kelp
tablets, as my friends suggested it as it helped to grow her hair..on the
label it says 1 tablet per day (icelandic Kelp) but some sights say 5-6
what do you advice? and if anyone else has used kelp tablets, has it
grown your hair and any advice on how often to take it?? im soooo sorri
its so long, but ive had this problem for a while and this is the only place
that seems to be able to help me..im very selfconcious and worry about
my hair and the way i look alot! i blow dry my hair nearly everyday!
because of the way i have it and to make it look longer..i need a hairstyle
where i can handle my hair, it still looks good, not too tight and stops me
from using the blow dryer too mch..pllzzzzzzzz help me, this is my last
hope xxxxxxxxx

Stop blowdrying you hair everyday that is sucking all of the moisture out of it and killing it. I would get a trim to even it up a bit. Start moisturizing everyday with one of the following: castor oil, shealoe butter, shea butter(pure, unrefined) or a good organic hair butter. Learn how to work with your hair instead of against it. Try doing conditioner washes daily and shampooing/deep conditioning weekly. any more questions please feel free to ask and i hope this helps.

Try minimizing heat applied styles, let your hair rest for a while with some 2 strand twist or even try a braid out(but not tight on the scalp)and ditto  on using some vitamins. Y'all got it going on on the advice ..keep it comin!

Jade, what do you mean by "its not pickey or nuffin,
its good texture." your hair doesn't have to be straight to be beautiful or "good"

Try two-strand twists you can style them in many diffrent ways and they are a good protective style. You can do this with your own hair or with extentions. Also try 100% Aloe vera gel it's all natural and good for your hair. Yor should visit Nappturality.com and look at some of the members albums for ideas. My favorite is Roshini.

Do not blow dry your hair everyday.  Blow drying is one of the most damaging things u can do.  If I were you I would stop blow drying period, for the time being.  Try sitting under a hooded dryer or if you have to blow dry do it way less often and put the dryer on a cooler setting.  You should get your hair braided for a while and keep your scalp oiled, this will help because by keeping it braided you arent doing anything harmful to it and your hair can do nothing but grow!  Also you have to get it trimmed at least every 6 to 8 weeks or your ends will split and go all the way up the hair shaft until it breaks off.  Trust me, you may not want to trim it but it works.

Also do deep conditioning treatments like cholesterol or hair mayonaise.  Sit under the dryer for 15 to 20 min. with a shower cap on, rinse that out and condition again with a regular conditioner like dove, fructis, pantene or whatever you want.  Hope I didn't confuse you.

Your should try doing braids or twists with your own hair. They look great and it is a good protective style.
