On a low setting with a damp chunk of hair it does okay. Not
getting too hot and making sure the curl cools in place is key.
I've definitely fried some. Big disaster when I had to borrow
someone else's iron when i went to visit my sister a few months
ago. I should have known that even the lowest setting on that
monster would be too much.
I must say I prefer rollers. But I think that is in part cause I am lazy!
I know this has been discussed here before, but how many of you that wear PH have tried curling it with an iron?
I haven't tried it with the P.Haar but have tried it with other synthetics like Dome Monofiber, Prohair, HairUWear put on pieces, and synthetic wigs. I used the Teflon curling iron, supposedly for curling synthetics, and was able to curl the fiber after 5 min. of warm up. But when I let it heat up for over 15min., in high heat setting, I fried the fiber.
I really feel comfortable using water or steam better than straight metal contact for altering any synthetic memory.
Here are some of my tips, I'll share with curling or altering its memory: If the fiber is on the head, I use boiling water in a tipping applicator and saturate the pink foam rods. Remove till completely cool. The Caruso steam rollers also works. Now if the fiber needs to be altered prior to install, then I perm, dread, or twist the hair and dip it in a boiling pot. Lay out till completely cool then install.
Btw, I've altered this when it was still fresh synthetic. Like bag-synthetic, display-synthetic, and 2-week-old-head-worn-synthetic as opposed to month{s}-old-head-worn-out synthetic.
I would like to know how to repair, if possible, very-worn-out-month{s}-old-synthetics used already on the head. 'Very-worn-out', by my definition, is splitting, dried, and fried brillo-type look. Any comments would be very helpful. Thanks, Charlene
I LOVE using my new Trevor Sorbie velvet covered rollers my bf got me for by 18th on Friday! I have used them so many times already, just experimenting, and the curl holds great in the PH! I might post some pics tomorrow with a camera phone... :-)
