I see lots of posts from people with hair color problems, but how many of us have done something unintentional and have it look cool?
For example, my hair is a medium to dark golden blond, but back in the mid 90s, it was overhighlighted and very bright - too bright. I have never had dark hair and I guess because of a 'Xena' influence - I decided to give it a try. (Actress Lucy Lawless was actually a blond who went dark for her role - with good results). I figured darker hair would make my hazel-green eyes stand out more.
So I used a medium brown and colored my hair. And for about a week, I had the coolest result. My hair did come out brown, but it looked like with was shot through with fine golden filaments. Not highlights, but individual strands of pure gold.
Sadly, I did not realize that darkening one's hair is more difficult and in no time it went back to almost the original bright color. But it did look pretty neat for about a week.

I dyed my hair a deep burgundy brown while staying with my best friend
and her family in Maryland. It came out purple on my dark brown hair,
which was a fun change, but only stayed that way for a week. So when I
came back home, it was a beautiful dark auburn that both my parents and
I could agree on. =D Plus, I got tons of compliments!
