If one uses Pantene smooth and silk (which I know has tons of cones), how often should they clarify their hair, and will any clarifying shampoo do?

I love how Pantene makes my hair feel, but the last time I used it, I didnt know about clarifying, and it left me with a lot of split ends. My hair is now healthier, but has some weak spots from highlighting and a bad perm. I'd like to use Pantene again, but want to know how often I should remove the cone buildup.

information on silicones ("cones") can be found here, and more explanation on clarifying can be found here. Hope this helps!

Edited to add: Hi Lunarflame, clarifying ideally should be done at least once every 2 weeks. I use cones and clarify every week, and it seems to work great. Everybody has a "perfect timing" for their clarifying routine. You could experiment with different time intervals and see what works best for you. A clarifying shampoo for example, Suave Clarifying, works well for most people. Or you can use diluted apple cider vinegar.
