I need help, alot of the people at school are telling me to get my hair cut because it's getting long, it's no quite shoulder length and about the same length all the way around bangs are just below the chin. I don't know what to do and if I do get it cut I don't know how I want it done. I thought maybe changing the color but right know it's sandy brown with blonde highlights, I style it all myself and I've done it since I was 8 and I think maybe I should go to a professional to get it done. I used to spike it but that went outta style at my school. thanks for all the help you have to offer and if you have any style ideas for long hair, Just tell me. thanx again for any help

No matter, this advice applies: Cut your hair if you want to cut
it. Don't cut your hair if you don't want to cut it. And if
you really do want to cut your hair, you'll know how you want it to be
cut.

I read your post and something in what you said really struck me. I quote you as stating "I need help, alot of the people at school are telling me to get my hair cut because it's getting long". You also stated "I don't know what to do and if I do get it cut I don't know how I want it done". I'am just taking a guess here but it seem's to me that your comfortable with your hair just the way it is or you would have cut it before now. Are being pressured? You may want to reconsider other people's decisions on what you should do. Guys with long hair is very fashionable...you don't have to go as long as DaveDecker or PurpleBubba. You can get a nice clean trim and pull your hair back with a pony tail holder. You can also completely change the color and get nice layers with highlights without looseing any of the length.

Tiramisu2c, Yeah I'm a dude, look at my name "drums/FOOTBALL'', unless you know anyone that plays football that is a women than it's some what obvious. I am pressured because alot of the guys one the football team are telling me to get it knocked off. I can't pull my hair back all the way because my bangs aren't able to get that far back and it looks odd if I do pull it back in a ponytail. I'll probably go get some layers (sorry I don't know what that means, I guess I'll ask the stylist) and change the color.
Thanx for the help, I just need some more opinions

I thought that perhaps you were a girl who was a fan of football .
I am a female, but I work at my college radio station in the sports
department and I help with the broadcasts of our college football games
- I either call play-by-play or color commentary, so I am a fan of
baseball, hockey, football, basketball, etc...even though I'm a
girl. There was also a girl in my high school on the wrestling
team and she wanted to be on the football team...no one messed with her.
Anyway, as long as you are comfortable with the length of your hair, it
shouldn't really matter whether or not your friends think you should
cut it. Are you able to play football without it getting in your
way? (i'm guessing the helmet keeps it in place) and when you are off
the field, do you find it comfortable to function with the hair in your
face and whatnot? I mean your friends may just be teasing
you. How short are your bangs? probably soon, they'll be
long enough to fit in a pony, or something.
Layering means that your hair won't bluntly be cut at one length, but
at many different lengths which should blend into each other. I'm
not sure if this is what you want. If you are aiming to fit it
into a pony tail, I don't suggest cutting it, but if you just want
something different, and don't mind it in your face, that's fine.
A lot of my guy friends who have ever let their hair grow often wore
bandannas to cover it and hold it back during the in-between lengths
like yours is now. I don't know if there is much else a guy can
do other than wear it down or tie it back with out it looking too
feminine. But if you are comfortable, I say let it go. If
you are uncomfortable, cut it to your desired length.

Tiramisu2c, nice comment with the football deal, I understand what you mean. Just before I put on me helmet I throw my hair back and just put on the helmet and yes the melmet keeps it in place. I don't really mind if it's in my face but sometimes it's in my face a little too much, i just put on my sunglasses and that keeps the hair out of my eyes quite a bit. My bangs are at least down my chin but I put the ponytail as far down the back of my head as it will go so they are so close but not quite long enough.
Don't listen to those guys on your team. I don't think they have any reason to pressure you. It doesn't seem like your hair is getting in the way of practice (your helmet makes it stay, doesn't it?) By Christmas you should be able to ponytail it. Hang in there! I agree with Tiramisu about the bandanas, those help a LOT, so I would check with the school policies whether they are allowed. Best of luck
There are lots of guys in both pro and college football that have hair
long enough to stick out of the helmet. The others have said what I
would say. Wear your hair your way and use a bandana if you are
allowed. If all else fails you could wet your hair down or slick it
back with something right before you put the helmet on.
Side note: There are women who play or have played football. There's a
movie with Helen Hunt called Quarterback Princess that I think was
based on a true story. She wanted to play football and be quarterback
and since her school didn't have a girls team they had to let her try
out for the boys team.
