QuoteReplyTopic: The low down on clip ins? Posted: August 23 2005 at 8:03pm
I've been reading and reading and I think Im on page 18 or so in the archives. Anyway, what I need to know is all about clip ins. I posted awhile back regarding my mom's thinning hair and was told clip ins would probably be the best. I know I can buy pre-made clips, but in the interest of saving money, I would like to know how to make my own. What size clips? How many wefts? What size wefts? What do you use to sew on the clips? Anything else? Is there a website that outlines this method? Thanks so much everyone?

I think metal girls method may be linked to somehwere in the archives.
But I reccomend looking at all the different kinds avaialble
premade. THey give different configurations of how many
pieces/sizes.
You can get some inspiration that way. Then what I do is get
clips from sally's (not the best not the worst) or better from
hairpiece (I think it's hairpiece, haircandy definitely has them also)
for pieces longer than ~4" you want three clips along the top of the
weft, more than ~7" I'd say four clips.
I use two to three layers of weft hand sewn to the clips with weave
thread and a little nail glue (to keep the wefts from unraveling and
the knots solid).
Hope that helps.
