BiggMikes reply:

I use a hard brush when my hair is longer than normal. Sometime I let it grow out for a while and skip a hair cut. When it's long it's very hard to deal with so a soft brush is not going to work on coarse long hair. It does not make sense to use something that does not help to straighten out the curled up naps. "To use a soft brush on coarse longer than normal hair is like combing long hair with a small tooth comb that does not reach the Roots".

I do use a soft brush after a fresh hair cut because my hair is not as long and it is laying down and spinning. A soft brush is ideal for short trained hair. A this point there is no need to use a hard brush.

Coarse strong hair calls for a coarse hard brush. Straight thin hair has no need for a hard brush. "Using a hard brush on straight hair is like killing a fly with a jack hammer".

This why so many of the members say don't use a hard brush because their hair is straight anyway or it already trained to lay down. So I can see why they say this. But the only problem is, everybody on the site does not have straight thin hair that already laying down. The issue is for Straight hair, Coarse hair, or Medium textured hair, there are different methods, products, and different brushes for each hair texture..........Which one are you?

Yeah, chi town, when you brush with a hard when ya cut is low, your scalp tends to irritate for like the rest of the day. And, also it makes your hair thin, so if you are doing that make sure you use an anti breakage conditioner such as blue magic or african gold braid sheen (i use both)
