I was pondering today about deep conditioning, and I know that when you condition it's best to sit under a hair dryer or something to heat and "activate" the conditioner. I've heard time and time again that heating conditioner on the hair for 20 odd minutes is the way to get the best results.

My problem is, I have no access to a hair dryer. Are there any alternatives out there, or methods you ladies use to achieve the same deep heat penetration of a dryer without an actual dryer?

Are they any conditioners out there that achieve the same effect without heat at all? Or are there other ways to heat the conditioner on the hair?

I could only think of one possible (haha and pretty ghetto) solution. What do you guys think about heating hair conditioner on the stove and THEN applying it and letting it sit? This wouldn't damage whatever chemical structure is in the conditioner would it?

Let me know what you guys think!

heating the conditioner is a good one. i do it and a lot of oher ladies. to help it penetrate better, you can also heat up a wet towel in the microwave and tie that over your head.....i have a hair dryer but i rarely use it because i dont have the patience to sit under it. so just heat it up

Ditto on the hot towel.  Mine always ends up dripping down my neck though so I usually sit under the dryer.

hey girl,, heres a good one,, this totally works for me
becuz i do not own a hooded dryer,, you need a blow
dryer for this one though, apply conditioner(alot of it)
to your wet hair then put on a plastic hair cap or a
plastic baggie,, next take ur blow dryer and blow it at
your head until the cap feels nice and warm(the hair
underneath will be warm too) then put a satin cap or
a towel or an old t shirt on your head to keep the heat
in,, the heat has stayed in for over 2 hours with me
when i used a satin cap on top of the plastic one:-)!!
so i figured idont really need a heating cap or
dryer,,good luck
Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED

I once tried to heat a towel in the microwave and I burned it. I don't know how though..I can be a bit of a ditz when it comes to things like that :( But I'm going to try the shower cap and tshirt idea, it sounds great!

Just a question..does anyone here exfoliate their scalp? Or is there a thread someone can point me to that will give me some info on that?
Thanks!

I do the same thing with the blow dryer but sometimes I don't have the patience to let the conditioner sit in my hair for hours.
