Hi, I'm trying to find out the name of a certain type of roller, which actually looks more like a small, plastic horseshoe through which you can weave your hair in and out so as to create a zig-zag crimping effect. Can anyone please help me? I recall them being sold in the mid nineties. Do you know where I could purchase a set?

Thank you!

There is something like that by Wave Rage.  You wind the hair round the horse shoe roller and then you put these heated clips on top in order to heat the style so it will stay.  Try typing in "wave rage" and "DC300" in google to search for it.  You can also try clicking the following link http://store.yahoo.com/giladbarlev/waradconnaha.html to see what I am talking about.

You're welcome! And yes, I have it but it took me some practice before I got the results I wanted.  Like if you leave the heat clips on too long or wind the rollers too tight you will get really tight curls, which is good or bad depending on what you want.  I think it is really good for making "s" type of waves (looks very pretty).  To make more of a spiral curl I prefer another type of heat up roller sometimes referred to as swizzlers or twisters.  There are several kinds of models but to see what I am talking about you can check out one type here http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00065IBO6/qid =1126405397/sr=8-9/ref=pd_bbs_9/102-8607659-4496952?v=glance &s=hpc&n=507846
