Wassup Fellaz, I'm new to tha board & i'm just checking things out.. any how..I have a couple concerns.
I originally had cornrows from 1996-2002 but I got a cut & I started my waves in March 03 and was spinning by June 03..I guess I just hard a natural pattern. I've always had soft managable hair. And what sux about it is that whatever direction i comb/brush it in..it goes...now to some people that may seem good, but when you want a style to hold...it kinda sucks!
Now I aint sayin I got real real soft hair eitha..just managable ya dig. Believe me, if I dont keep it moisterized & brushed it will napp up!
and thats exactly what happened...a few times I visited my girls apartment & spent the night with no du-rag & no brush, and I sleep kind of wild...well she hard a hard "girl" type brush...& I normally use soft to medium...& I kind of lost my pattern!
Its still there...but not as strong as before..it kind of strated to fade. I have been reading and following these tecnieques you all posted for the past couple of days & I gotta hand it to yall...yall know exactly what your talkin bout...
I was ussing similar techs before & I was just experimenting...nobody told me how to get waves...they just told me to keep brushin! but I incorporated the water & lets jam myself...I even used "Johnson's Baby Oil Gel"
My hair doesnst agree with gunky hard pomades..I mostly use soft stuff...I recently got Scurl 360, & I think thats gunna be my new best friend! I have that...doo-grow, a water/moisterizer spray bottle & lets jam.
& I follow the water & shower routine in the morning, & the 1 1/2 hr.brushing routine mid day, while spraying the water/moisterizer spray bottle in between.
My hair is still kinda short..I got it cut last monday sept 5..
& I think I should keep following instructions while letting it grow a little, and when it does...switch to the medium brush and continue the method.Tell me, am I doing this right? How long will it take to get my babies back?
Also..To get the 360's..
when I brush the top of my head...should I start at the middle of my crown & brush forward tward my forhead and out to my sides?
or
Start at the middle crown & brush inward and straight down?
let me know sumfin fellaz..

it depends on how much you brush, and how dedicated you are, it
shouldn't take you any longer than it did when you first had waves.

it doesn't matter where where you start, just make sure you brush it all.

r u using that soft brush or medium brush when ur hair does that. i notice my hair does that too afer i apply moisturizer to it but only wit a medium-hard brush. and the reason that ur waves faded when u used that girl brush is becuz it was too hard. those kinds of brushes are made so hard to detangle hair and thas prolly wut it did wit urs. (broke all ur hair up, and made it look jes wavy instead of having waves, and poofy im guessing)

Man people have posted and re-posted that pic. Maybe we should keep it as a sticky thread or somethin because everybody new asks exactly how to brush. Just my opinion
I was just thinking that someone should use photoshop and do something like that...but i didnt think that anyone would take the time to do that and be on the same page as me...once again...thanks alot!

Yeah no prob w/ it sjay. I know i found it on the first 4 or 5 pages of this forum and it helped me out. I notice newbies ask how to brush a lot so i was just thinking it should be in a sticky called "Brushing Techniques" or sumum. JMO...
