QuoteReplyTopic: Wash your way to longer hair? Posted: July 20 2002 at 1:43am
I wash my hair by kneeling in the bathroom and hanging my head over the bathtub. Then, when I am done, I flip it back and wrap it in a towel. This makes my hair very tangled. I am trying to grow my hair longer.
Does washing my hair this way prevent it from growing? I have been trying to grow my hair long for years with no luck.
Please help! Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank YOU!!
this would in no way impede hair growth. if anything, you are boosting your hair`s natural growth by encourageing blood flow and circulation to the head when you massage it upside down. i`d do it myself it wasn`t such a hassle. perhaps look to your diet. Also, when i used hi-silicone hair stuff like Pantene *badbadbadbad* I found my hair wouldn`t grow past a certain length. there could be many factors contributing to your hair`s lack of growth. email me at pandas@keg-party.com
I would have to say no unless you were wearing that towel for hours and not letting your scalp breath. But even that might not prevent growth. Hair growth has to do with your overall health and what you eat. Good blood circulation is important for hair growth. Now hanging your head upside down for long periods of time might have some effect on your circulation but I don`t know if it would be enough to stop hair growth.
Hair is a strand of protein called Keratin. That means that you have to have some sort of protein in your diet in order for your body to make hair. That doesn`t mean you should eat a steak everyday. What it does mean is that you should eat a balanced diet.
In other words if you don`t restock your body with supplies its going to use whatever it can find or nothing at all.
Now I understand that this may not have been what you were asking but you did ask about hair growth so hopefully this helps.
By the way, if a doctor or scientist were to examine a 6 inch strand (approx 1 year`s growth) of hair they could tell by the way it looks in different spots what kind of health you were in during certain months or periods of that strand`s growth.
I watch a lot of shows on forensics which is scientific crime solving. There was a guy who died from being poisoned and they were able to prove that his wife had been poisoning him by examining his hair and they charted out when he was given doses of poison. She had been giving him little bits of it at different times over like a 6 month period.
