Really dry hair

could be overprocessed! Does she color or do other chemical services to her hair? What type of shampoo is she using. Shampoos with Ammonium Lauryl and Laureth Sulfate tend to be more harsh on the hair and can dry it out. Also stuff like Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Oil Shampoo can dry it out...it should be used sparingly every 3 or 4 days.

Deep Conditioning of hair might be necessary every few days for several weeks to get the hair in better shape. Also leave in conditioners are good too.
