I hear that soaking your hair in lemon juice makes it lighter... is this true?  Because if it is, I was thinking about trying it.  I have light borwn/dirty blonde hair.  In the summer it's a nice color, since I'm out in the sun all day and it lightens up, but when it's winter and I'm indoors most of the time, it's a yucky, dull color.  At times it almost looks grey!  (I'm 14 by the way)
Do you think using lemon juice will help brighten my hair color??  I don't want to be totally blonde, though.... just a tiny bit lighter than it is now.  Any good techniques?

You need to combine the cirtric acid with sun in order to get any reaction.  Just soaking it by itself wont do anything.

Also ur hair just might turn orange so beware, and this can be very drying to the hair. I don't normally like to recommend this but i hear that bblonde gel by john frieda is good for that sort of thing.

Just because it's natural doesn't mean it's gentle. I read about a woman who ended up with a crew cut after using lemon juice on her hair.

I would recommend using Sun-In and then blow drying the hair, but make
sure to follow up with a good deep conditioning treatment if your hair is
in worse condition afterwards.

Why not just use a high lift color in that case to create streaks where u want it lighter?

I've tried John Freida's Blonde Gel and it is good but I really didn't notice any difference.

You really want to avoid sun-in, it is about the worst thing you can do to your hair. It is a product designed to lighten the hair while claiming you don't 'bleach' it. It is very harsh. Just get highlights, it's gentler.
