Hey, I just read online about a product called Biolustre. It says that its a treatment done in salons that actually repairs severe damage to hair up to 300%. It doesn't wash out, it actually bonds to you hair to make it like virgin hair. Has anyone else heard of this or tried it? A treatment costs $250 and I want to know if it really works before I go looking for a salon that does it and pay that much money to try and fix my hair.

Babyj32 I personally can't speak for Biolustre however I don't know of any product that can fully restore damaged hair in one application. Damaged hair CAN'T be repaired it can only be treated. Some treatments are very effective. I know I recommended L'ANZA's Magic Bullet 4.2oz spray and it's excellent at treating damaged hair. One of the best products I've used personally.

I read in another of your posts that your hair is like a thin rubber band....snapping easily. The elasticity is gone from your hair. Moisture has been stripped from your hair. The Magic Bullet from Lanza will help with that especially if you blow dry your hair. It's the only product with Keratin in it to help treat the cortex of the hair strand. It also will help tame the outter most layer of each hair strand the cuticle layer to help with snarls, tangles, knots etc. By doing that it will help to keep in the moisture gradually restoring some of the problems you are know experiencing.

Don't fall for the gimmick testimonials of Biolustre that says they had damaged hair, used it once then permed their hair to perfection. There is NO SUCH thing as an instant cure for severely damaged hair which is what you have.

And PLEASE DON'T perm, color or chemically treat your hair again for a LONG, LONG TIME!!!

Also I don't know what shampoo products you are using on your hair right now but please look at the ingredients of your bottles and DON'T use shampoos with Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate and Ammonium Laureth Sulfate. They are the detergents that clean hair but they are EXTREMELY drying to hair because of the Ammonium. Look for shampoos that contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate....it's more gentle on the hair. Products lines like Thermasilk, Pantene and several other popular shampoo lines contain Ammonium in them and they are awful for your hair....don't use them throw them out....THEY FLAT OUT STINK!

I'd suggest using a shampoo like Garnier for colored or permed hair....it has Sodium in it as the cleansing agent and it's made more gentle for chemically treated hair.

One last thing if you are using products with PANTHENOL in the ingredient. PANTHENOL causes the cuticle layer of someones hair to raise slightly while the other ingredients in the product penetrate the hair strand to add moisture, restore balance to the hair and more. Where many people make the mistake is that they continue to wash the conditioner out of their hair with the same temperature water usually hot out of their hair which leaves that cuticle layer of the hair strand slightly raised. If you use a product with PANTHENOL on your hair when you rinse it out....rinse it out with slightly cool water to seal that cuticle layer back up...the end results are typically much better. It doesn't hafta be freezing cold but water on the cool side is perfect.

Many people who color their hair say the color bleeds right out....Panthenol is sometimes the cause of this unless the person has severely damaged or very pourus hair.

OK that should help you best I can....G'luck Babyj32

Claude:

Thank you for all of your advice . . . I really appriciate your help. Luckily I'm a hair product junkie, so I have tons of reconstructors, deep conditioners etc. Last night I used Redkin Extreme Rescue Force fortifying treatment for distressed hair . . . it says to leave on for 15 minutes but I slathered it all over my hair and wrapped it up in plastic wrap and slept with it in my hair. Let me just say to everyone out there who has really damaged hair that THIS HELPED!! I think my hair is way past repair, but like I'd mentioned in my other posts, my hair was all mushy and rubbery. Today after doing that treatment, it's still a little rubbery in places, but mostly it seems just dry and brittle. And I'll take dry and brittle over rubber hair anyday. I'm going to buy that magic bullet you mentioned and see how that goes. As far as what shampoo and conditioners I use . . . I never use drug store products only ones sold in salons. (Let this be a lesson to everyone out there, there is no point in spending a small fortune of great hair products if you're going to skimp on going to the salon for bleaching!) I used several brands and just rotate what I used everyother day or depending on how my hair feels. I have Redkin Extreme shampoo and conditioner, Kenra clarifying shampoo, Kenra intensive emollient treatment (which I HIGHLY reccomend to anyone who color treats their hair) Bumble and Bumble seaweed shampoo, Bumble and Bumble super rich conditioner (both excellent products) Pureology volumizing shampoo, Pureology hydrate conditioner (another wonderful conditioner) Every three to four days I deep condition or use a reconstructor like phytocitrus masque, the redkin reconstructor I mentioned earlier, Nexxus Keraphix reconstructor or Nexxus Humectress conditioner. I looked at my shampoos and conditioners and didn't see ammonium lauryl sulfate or ammonium laureth sulfate in them. That is very good information to know! Believe me, I probably will NEVER color my hair again after it grows out nice and healthy. At least I will never try to go blonde again, that's for definite sure! I don't perm my hair, or chemically straighten it. And I won't be blow drying or curling or flat ironing my hair until it gets healthy again. Oh, I've learned my lesson . . . and I wouldn't wish what's happened to my hair on anyone, not even my worst enemy because damaged hair, or a bad haircut or just plain bad hair is so traumatic and really makes a person feel bad about themselves. (At least it does for me) Again, thank you so very much for being so nice to reply.
