Back then I used the ARTec Textureline smoothing shampoo and loved it, but I have since found other shampoos I like just as much.

Au contraire, my whale friend... I advise you comb to detangle, optionally brush to finish... but definitely massage your scalp with your fingers to improve circulation.  Regular cardiovascular exercise helps a lot, too!

i see... thanks!  i always massage my scalp when i'm watching tv or something.  i'll try not to brush as much...
