Hairtypes can alter over the years. Think of babies with straight hair who end up with curly hair as adults or vice versa. But basically, one's hairtype is what it is (think of your roots in their natural state, no product). That would be the best indication of your hair type.
It does not sound to me like your hair type has changed. It sounds like your hair is frizzy (damaged, relaxed or just frizzy). But you can always tell your hairtype from the roots.
Products do not alter your hairtype either. They alter the the hair's appearance temporarily (think of curl creams or straightening balms) or permanently (relaxer or permanent hair hair color). Just my .02$

I think I might have to disagree, a few years back when my hair was really healthy (because I was going to salon almost every week like I had that kind of money )my new growth was growing in wavy not the thick bushy new growth I've been getting recently. Also your damaged/healthy hair reacts to styling products differently so I think it is possible.
I agree with Cookies, your hair type will always be the same no matter if you hair is damage, frizzy, etc. It may look different persay but that can be of many things such as the weather changing, environment, changes of the products used, etc. Even if you use chemicals like relaxers, colours your hair apperance changes but its still going to be the same hair type (technically)...HTH
No it cannot actually affect ur hairtype becuz thats
genetically predetermined but relaxing the hair
definitely wont allow the hair to dry with a nice curl,, i
dont know whether u relax or not but if severe
damage seems to have taken the curl out of ur hair
its probably becuz the hair is frizzy, the cuticle wont
lay down and u dont get ur curl pattern,, im just
speculating though......

my hair did the same years ago , whenever it dries it would look curly .. but now as it dries it puffs . but i dont think this it is related to your "real/natural" hair type .. maybe your hair is just tired of chemicals ...
Hair type: 4a or 3C<--transitioning
Hair length: 20"
goal:relaxer free healthy hair
Last relaxer: Sept 05
I was thinking the other day as my hair air dried in a pony tail. Does the amount of damage your has afffect your hair type? Like the healthier your hair type is, the better(bad word choice) your estimated hair type is.?
I can remeber a couple years ago when my hair air dried it was still curly, but now it just dries into a puff with some curls. Has anyone else noticed this? or is it just me being weird....see what being bored in school makes me think about? my hair
