I sung my praises of NeXXUS emergencee but
maybe i made a mistake of using it again this week
becuz my hair is breaking just as much as b4 i ever
used it,, but it looks amazingly sleek and feels silky,,
why are my ends still breaking??????? I cant
understand this!!!!!! Nexxus says
Emergencee can be used DAILY if u like so once a
week wouldnt cause breakage would it?? ,,
Maybe there is just no help for such severe
overprocessing as i have had done to my hair and
that hair remains as the last 3 or 4 inches,,, has
anyone had experience with K pac reconstructor,, im
about ready to try anything,,, the breakage isnt severe
but im a terrible perfectionist about myhair after the
breakage i had years ago left me with not more than
a mullet (so iwore extensions becuz I cant live
without having long hair,, Im a long haired person at
heart ) anyway somebody help mE!!
Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED

Sorry the Nexxus isn't working well. Have you been getting regular trims (I'm sure you have)? Maybe you need to do a "big" trim. I just had one in September by accident (stylist did it) and I still don't have split ends....maybe a few here and there but nothing like before. She trimmed what looked to be 2 1/2 to 3 inches off. Trust me I know it's hard to trim that much off so I would understand if you didn't want to do that but over the years I've learned that it does your hair no good to hang on to the dead damaged ends. Once you cut those off you can start fresh and your hair will grow even more because it's not breaking. Mine surely did.
Also, one major thing I tried that helped my hair grow so much is to not use any heat for 3 or 4 months. I did protective styles and just wore it in a wash and go and sometimes braided it at night. It's hard for me to wear it like that in the winter because I don't want to walk around with my hair wet. I hate that so I usually do that in warm weather.
I wouldn't use anymore protein for a while and just do deep conditioning treatments. I use Cholesterol and then a use a regular moisturizing conditioner after that. HTH

Maybe you can't use that particular product as often as it says too. Also, since you mentioned your hair is already damaged, the products can only do so much. Sooner or later the damaged hair is going to want to come off. Like Pokahantas stated...you might need a "BIG" trim to get rid of the damaged hair that is trying to break off.
Thanx guys! I think ur right about the trim,, i honestly
have not had a trim in years ,, not since1999,, YIKES
anyway I applied some safflower oil and the
breakage totally stopped,, i guess i messed up the
protein/moisture balance and it got too dry on those
already damaged ends so it needed some extra
moisture,, what i do is seek out every solitary little
split end or broken hair ( at least in front and sides)
and trim that off i think the last 3 or 4 inches do need
to go though,,, sigh,,,,,,, but I just cannot bring myself
to cut yet,, my hair is only 13-15 in. so cutting 3 off
that is too short!! ,, i havent relaxed now for about
9 weeks and i dont really see a problem with new
growth, i wonder why i ever relaxed ,, its soft and
i think its straighter(maybe its MSM) what i do notice
is that the relaxed hair thats left is hard and dry,, i
think i really am DONE with relaxers.....

I noticed that about my relaxed hair also. Beleive it or not my natural hair is much softer and more manageable than my relaxed hair. It's such a difference. With the right techniques, products and flat iron there is pretty much no need for relaxers.
I usually get mini trims every 2 and a half months. These trims are usually less than a centimeter.....just a dusting to keep the weak, damaged ends away. I do the same thing as you do, checking every hair for split ends and trimming just that single hair which is good but some of the hairs on your ends are probably just weak from wear and tear but they are not split so you probably won't cut that one so by trimming the hair regularly, all over, should help with the breakage (I don't know if that made sense, hard to explain).
I'm glad to hear the safflower oil helped though.
I think you will really benefit from it and you will feel like you have a totally new head of hair. I hear you though about the length because I'm the same way! I wouldn't worry about cutting 2 or 3 inches off though because if you trim an inch or even a half inch it will improve.
Products may minimize damage but I think regular trims are the only thing that will permanently correct / eliminate the problem. 3-4 inches is a lot of hair so may take a while still to rid yourself of the problem even with regular trims. But the end rersults will be worth it since you are taking such good care of your hair. I do not think another reconstructor is going to permanently correct this any more than Emergencee did.
Thanx !! so far the breakge has stopped since
applying the safflower oil,,, the damaged relaxed hair
cant stand too much protein anyway,, yeah i get what
u mean Pokahantas,, Im insane I seek
out and destroy every little bent or broken hair and
trim a teeny bit above the damaged point just to be
safe and i actually have been doing actual "mini
trims" since maybe june this year where ill just
evenly cut a small amount off the ends,, i started
becuz after a blowout one day my ends were all
WHITE so i knew there was no saving them,, and
ill continue to do them till all relaxed hair is gone!!
One day... sigh..... ,, probably about a year from
now .....
