I have a question about relaxing and hair
shedding,, this topic always bugs me becuz for the
life of me i cant think of a reason why stretching a
relaxer would cause hair to just fall out( i havent
experienced this ever),, many , many ppl say that they
have experienced shedding due to not relaxing,,,
could it just be breakage from very high up near the
scalp? anyone know this??
Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED

yeah, i agree.i dont think that stretching a relaxer causes your hair to break. I think its the drama they put their hair through with all that heat.

You make a good point. I do not think that stretching causes shedding. However, I do think that after I get a touch up, I shed more, mainly because I can barely brush or comb through beforehand, so my "normal shdding" is just posponed till after the process. I do agree that stretching can lead to beakage due to too much stress from bushing or combing where the 2 textures meet. I think in my case, in order to successfully stretch for a long period of time, I will have to go from 1x week wash/conditioner to 2x wash conditioner. Also I must do deep conditioner w/ roller set 3 days prior to relaxer to avoid realy impossible roots.
if you do your deep cond/rollerset just 3 days prior to your perm does this not cause irritaion to your scalp when teh oerm is done? What type of deep conditioning do you do? products? regime?
I am now 12 weeks stretch and am getting my perm in a week. I have had very little shedding stretching at all, in fact next to none, but you are right ...the last time I stretched 12 weeks and after the perm I had a lot of shedding also.
