Is scab hair( hair that was affected by relaxer b4 it
pushed its way out of ur follicle) real or was it just
made up,,, im about 3 mths post relaxer and i must
say that the hair that has grown out doesnt seem all
the curly(which is great!!),,,now i've been using MSM
and flaxseed to so i guess it could be that,, i dont
really see how it could be scab hair becuz any
considerable length of hair isnt even formed b4 its
peeked out thru the follicle,,anyone know whether
"scab hair"is real ?? I really hate the idea that my
new growth is not virgin hair......
Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED

Scab hair is real.  The relaxer seeps down into the scalp (that sound scary) and it affects the texture of your hair for up to a 6 months.  Some say that you won't know your real texture for up to 6 months.  Not everyone gets it though, and some not as long as others.  Scab hair is usually rougher in texture. It could still be your real texture though because mine dosen't grow in very curly either.  I never noticed scab hair at all though.  My new growth was so much easier to deal with.

I have to say it's real. My texture wasn't really different but my hair was crispy  and when my hair became wet that portion became semi-straight which my natural hair does not do. I had to cut about an 1/2 to an 1inch off before I noticed a difference in my hair.

thanx for ur replies on this,, becuz i have
experienced a bit of crispness up where my center
part is and it was freaking me out a bit,, i suppose it
is possible... anyway sorry to get technical but i just
have to pose this( i had also read that u get scab
hair for 6 mths),, if the hair underneath ur scalp is
being relaxed b4 it even pushes thu the follicle then
wouldnt that mean that when ur relaxing ur so called
virgin hair that ur ALREADY overlapping since that
hair alreday had its share of relaxer b4 it even came
thru??! thats a scary thought ,, becuz overlapping will
happen again when the hair is grown out,, anyway
im gonna look more into the scab hair phenomenom
lol
