How to choose a cut/style?

I need some good advice, looking in those style books is a waste of time because those aren't "real" people. I mean you won 't see those styles in the office and they wouldn't look the same on a 40yr old either. Not to mention I most likely couldn't do the style myself anyway. Does it really matter what shape your face is?

I just want something that will look good on me. Not make me look older. I work in an office so I need to look professional. Now I think I look "bummy". My hair is permed, and colored. Naturally straight, dull, and thin. The ends are frizzy. It has grown out from a mullet style to where the bangs are almost to my chin. I know I need to get the ends cut to stop breakage but don't know how to get it cut. Please help with some suggestions.

Now it's grown out quite a bit but the ends are getting bad, I have been just pulling it back. I need a style bad!

If the ends are fried / frizzy the only thing to do is cut them off & I'd suggest taking the length back above your shoulders.  How far would depend on how much perm is remaining - I'd seriously consider going to chin length if it got rid of all the perm but keep the bangs at the length they are now & you could end up with a classif bob which would suit the professional requirements you mentioned

Really? Everything I've read says heart and diamond shaped faces should stay away from short cuts. Need more width at the chin.

Chin length sounds interesting. The perm is very much still in. I had brushed through it and it frizzed up. If I spray it with water it curls back up.

I did it!! Even my hubby likes it! It is almost the same length through out, the back layers were just a little shorter so we just trimmed them. The next trim will have it all the same. I think it will be an easy kind of style to keep while my hair grows out. And all the bad ends are gone.

I am going to contradict what I said earlier because now I think that the curls look great; if I were you I would scrunch dry/use products to encourage the curl at the front around your face too.
