I started coloring my own hair a few months ago. I was not happy with the last time I did it so I spluged and had my stylist do it. I was not really changing the color, I just wanted a profession job and the ends were a little "muddy" looking so I wanted that fixed. What I got was bright red, practically magenta hair. The bottom and ends are darker but the roots - bright red. After putting 3 more colors on my hair she did some highlights which calmed it down a little. She says to wait for a few days it should fade a bunch. It is not so much that it is red, I thought about trying red anyway but it is so un-natural looking. How did this happen?
Did you tell her what color you wanted? Its odd it would wind up
magenta if you didn't ask for red or magenta. Its always wise for
them to do a test strand, since sometimes red can come out purple or
dark brown, depending on your hair's color and porosity. Since
the ends are more porous, they do come out darker, but they should fade
in a few weeks.

Yes, I even showed her pictures, I said dark golden blond and showed her 3 pics of dark golden blond. It has faded since my first post but I am still not happy, the roots are very bright red and I cannot pull it back because the color is so drastic. I am going to see what else she can do. Overall I am getting used to the red, but I don't like how unnatural the roots look.
