QuoteReplyTopic: Hair growth question Posted: February 21 2006 at 6:31am
I'm a 22 year old male who recently cut all my hair off. I didnt cut it off with a razor, but just buzzed everything with a # 1 clip when using hair clippers. It seems like now when my hair grows, the top grows in differently than the sides and back, almost as if the top grows faster. My hair looks uneven, almost like the top has a mountain full of hair, while the sides just take its time. The top grows straight up because its short (obviously), but some parts just seem to look like its shorter in some areas than others.
Is this a genetic problem, or is there something I can do to fix this and make my hair grow in evenly??
Sounds normal.. different parts of the head will have different growth rates (and different "terminal lengths" a.k.a. maximum length possible by genetics).
For example, very few of the hairs by my temple will grow longer than my chin. As a general rule, hair that is closer to the "edge" can grow shorter and slower. This counts for hairlines, napes, and the edges on the side.
Thanks for the info. Since my hair is so short, it doesnt look like it used to. I wouldn't say the texture has changed, but more like its overall appearance seems different to me. Also, my hair used to grow pretty fast in my teenage years, and now seems to grow a lot slower. I would like to let my hair grow again, so is there anything I can do to increase its growth speed?

Eat a balanced diet including plenty of lean protein and fruit and vegetables of every colour, be sure to get enough sleep every night and drink enough water, massage your scalp to stimulate the blood flow. Good luck!
Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day, but set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.
