I have had to remove just my top layer also, and I just sprayed the oil only on the top weft, first on the under side then on the top and it slid right out. Then I showered and washed my hair really good, and did not get any conditioner on that part of my hair, and then just re-installed. It's still holding up great, it has been 3 weeks since I did that portion and eveything is stuck really good.
Plastic wrap is a good idea if your wefts are placed close together, just watch for the over spray either way.
Good luck!!

They are staying! Guys, I'm so excited, but one girl at work asked me if it
was a wig!!
So yeah, then my bf told me some of my tape is showing.... He kept lauging at me and telling me I looked like I just had some type of
head surgery, yes, mean, but he also said it looked like my natural hair,
as he was petting me, haha. I figured for a guy to make that observation,
it's pretty damn good!
So yeah, now my new problem is the top tape is too long, I didn't want to
cut the weft up a lot, so I put this long weft right at the top of my head,
and it wrinkled some. So if my top layer moves slightly, bam, you see it,
and the wrinkled part. So my new task is figuring out how to take that
one out and fix it, without removing the rest.
Anyone have any experience with this?? I am going to try plastic wrap or
something tonight, to cover all the others, then just use the oil to remove
it. I am so scared, I don't want them all falling out! I might just wait......
Anyways, thanks again everyone, this time, they are holdin' tight!!

I'm not sure that Pro-Tac is the same, but I just rinsed my hair about 16 hours after my thermal install (no shampoo or conditioners) and they are staying in....
I had mine in a week tomorrow and my head has started to itch a little, just wondering if something might be on the tape i am allergic to. Will wait and see but still going strong - loving them.

Thanks for the help guys! I did it this morning, this time, they are IN!!
I did the clarifying, a few times, dried my hair really good, ran the dryer
on the wefts to make sure they were 100% dry. Then I put them in, while
the blue was on, I ran the dryer on it and then squeezed it really tight. Put
a little bit of weft glue on the back, pressed it in, and took the dryer to it
again, then put the hair over on the top.
I am not going to attempt to shower for a long time, but I think even if I
did, they wouldn't budge. They are much firmer than last time!
Now I am scared, just found out we might have a pool party on sunday. I
wonder if I can wear my shower cap at the pool party jk, but I
might stay on the side-lines....
Thanks again everyone! I will post pictures later!

EmmaSkye, I have the itchy issue too and I have been using Head and Shoulders cooling scalp treatment. I don't know if it is heinous for my hair or not but it feels all minty fresh and you don't have to rinse it out.

Ya, you have to let them dry totally and I even put a blow dryer on low on mine, lifting them up and stuff. Helps with the smell too while it dries.
I washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo and dried it totally before my install. It was a bit frizzy, but those suckers took! I feel like you could drag me around by my hair and they wouldnt budge!
I feel you on the washing and conditioning. I do a little trick and gather the hair on top of my head that lays over the top weft, put conditioner on it, twirl it up into a little bun and put a clippy on it while I finish my shower. Its not the sexiest thing, but at least the hair you can see is more silky. Just be careful not to get any on the tapes. Good luck!!

Great, yeah, I really think it was the conditioner and the showering right
away with the moisturizing shampoo.
gsmilie- yeah, I think that's a good idea, I do that sometimes too when I
don't have much time, kinda rinse it out to help clean some stuff out. I
think I just have OCD hygene issues I need to deal with. lol thanks again
for the pictures!
So I just got home, debating to start all this stuff now, at about 12:30 or
wait till the morning....
Either way, by sometime tomorrow I should have pictures up. Thanks
again everyone for the help!
Ive had mine in for 7 days and no slipping. Ive washed my hair 4 times already. I use a shampoo with Tea Tree Oil in it and only condition the bottom half. I then use a leave in conditioner on the top (my hair) after I get out. Ive blow dried, used hot rollers, mousse, hair spray, etc. and so far no slippage.
I colored my hair about 2 hours before I installed the pro tac, but I did not use the conditioner that came with the kit, since conditioner is supposed to take pro tac out. I waited 48 hours before I washed the first time.
The problem Im having right now is itching. I have itchy scalp anyway and not being able to really run my fingers through my hair and scratch my scalp is making it a little hard. Other than that, my pro tac is going strong.

I only wash my hair everyother day, but I too workout everyday, sometime twice a day and I also need to shower, but what I do is just stand under the shower and let the water wash down my hair. I take my fingers and just kinda massage the scalp area with no extensions and let the water be the "washer". This I find help me feel cleaner, but also saves my extension hair from drying out.
Good luck, and can't wait to see the "new" install pics. (sorry I installed the old ones, but they are very good anyways!!)

Ok, I think I've found it, first of all, showering right after was probably not
the best idea. But, my shampoo I use is moisturizing, because I even
gently pulled on them when I just rinsed my hair (before shampooing)
and they were all firm except one, which I think I just installed weird.
Right when I put the shampoo in, bam.
Also, I dyed my hair the night before, so I did a deep condition.
now, I am worried if these will work for me, if I don't condition the top
part of my natural hair, omg....it will be like....welcome to the 70's. Also, I
shower like several times some days (I can't work out and not shower and
wash my hair, I just feel...gross.) I guess I will have to get over that!!!
Thanks everyone for your help, I am going to go get some clarifying
shampoo (I want the pre-bonding shampoo, but the beauty store is prob
the only place that sells it and it's closed by now.) and then I am going to
try them again and wait a few days to shower. Wish me luck!!
I had terrible problems getting pro-tac to work for me. I did multiple
installs where they washed out in the first wash. Here's the method that I
found works for me:
Wash thoroughly (I do it 3 times) with Liquid Gold pre-bonding shampoo
Blow dry and install immediately
After each track is installed I blast it with a very hot hairdryer for as long
as my head will let me. If I point the hairdryer at an angle away from my
scalp I can get the tape pretty hot w/o burning
Wait 2 days before washing
Avoid conditioner on the scalp like the plague
Blow dry after washing, not air dry or my tape gets gummy
I have a pro-tac install in right now that's about 3 weeks old and still
doing ok. Gummy because I was lazy with the blow drying, but still
holding fine.
I washed my protac about 2 hours after my last install and had no problem. I wash my hair very day and have an oily scalp and the tape generally lasts three weeks for me.
I have also air dryed them and found no difference in their stickiness compared to blow-drying.
I have had, for no reason, tapes that have just slipped out right away. Then, when I reinstalled with fresh tape the same weft has lasted three weeks. My bottom wefts always start to slip after a couple days, so I anchor them with shrinkies.
I think part of the problem may be using a moisturizing shampoo to keep the extension hair soft while the shampoo might have too much moisture for the tapes.

I believe it is scalp oil and conditioners that make the tapes sticky. My
Pro-Tac install has done great getting wet (although I only wash 2-3
times a week) as long as I don't get conditioner on the tapes. I blow-dry
(rather than air-dry) and make sure that the tapes get really dry. I also
push on the wefts when I'm drying to help keep them attached the hair.
What has kept my weft hair soft and silky is using lots of good
conditioner on the hair, as well as only washing it with filtered water from
my shower filter.

I have proflex in and I have only washed the top part of my hair. I want to keep my extension hair as nice as possible. Does the water not make them all sticky when washing them. I could do with some advice on this.

Yeah, don't wash it so soon. Try to wait as long as you can before washing it - 24 hrs minimum. Do the clarifying thing before you install and you should be okay next time.
You are using the blue and white tape, right? The other tapes don't stay in for shizzle. I bought that roll of 1/2" tape that's supposed to be the same as proflex only narrower - NOT. I use it for the side pieces and they all fall out in a week.
Stick with the blue/white version.

Make sure to wash your hair before hand with a clarifing shampoo, no conditioner!!
I would wait at least 24-48 hrs after install to wash the first time. Also, be sure not to get any conditioner onto the tapes.
When I install, I make sure to rub the tapes onto the weft (after I have folded over the tape and removed the blue backing). I then remove only one side of the white tape and place that into my hair, I then rub really good, pushing the whole thing into my hair, then remove the other white side of the tape and pull down some hair to sandwich and then rub really good.
Good luck with installing, just remember, no conditioner or product, and they should stay in.

I recall reading that you're supposed to put the wefts into dry, newly
washed but unconditioned hair and then not wash your hair again for at
least 24 hours. I did it this way and my Pro-Tac is at three weeks and
going strong.
