my curls drop when I colour

Does anyone have any ideas why when I colour with permanent or semi my curls drop to waves, then about a week later they seem to recover? Thanks.

B/c coloring changes the texture of ones hair.  Usually it will add fullness to hair b/c it swells the shaft of the hair for the dye to adhere and keep the color from rinsing out.  My curly hair turns wavy also when I dye.  I don't think there's anything you can do to prevent that.
