QuoteReplyTopic: Another bleaching story... Posted: March 16 2006 at 3:56pm
Ok so I haven't actually bleached it yet. I have several questions....
So how do you know your natural hair color? I have been told 2 completely different things. In the back toward my scalp it's almost like a 3, and around my face its very light, like a 6. So which is it? but also, I think it might have looked so dark in the back is because I've been dyeing my hair dark brown for quite a while...in all honestly, without anyone elses opinion I would say my hair is a 5.
So I have decided I want to bleach my (colored) level 5 brown hair in about 1 month. I am using lots of deep conditioners and stuff to get my hair healthy. (Redken anti-snap leave-in, Sebastian potion #9, Schwarskopf Bonacure, Joico K-pak shampoo, conditioner, reconstructor and intense moisture, as well as fekkai Rx shampoo) I don't use all these at the same time...this is just an example of what I use.
ANYWAYS, so I think I will bleach it once a month until I get it to the right stage I want.
My skin color is VERY pale, porcalein so dark hair doesn't look good one me. I have a sort of pinkish tone to my skin..I think. So is an Ash color best for me? I am thinking of getting to like a 3 or platinum if that's possible.
I have been reading of people giving their hair a "bleach bath" What is this and what does it do? Will it do me any good to try that before I begin doing intense bleaching?
Does anyone also have any other shampoos or treatments I could add to my regime right now? (hahaha...sorry, I'm just laughing cause I already use so much)
I will be sure to post some pics soon...let this be the greatest bleach story ever...Just kidding

Bleaching once a month sounds very harsh. Maybe you should consult a color specialist? Besides, pale skin can work with dark hair. What some people fail to do when they change their hair color is also fail to adapt their cosmetics and possibly clothing color choices.
Weather Forcast - With high humidity in the air, expect general hair frizziness to continue :-/
Current Length: 30 inches or so from the front

Usually it's required to give your hair 48 hours or more of rest between bleaching, so I think waiting a month is fine. However, I would only bleach it 2 or 3 times at most (over a few months) so your hair doesn't get too dried out. I bleached my hair 3 times in 2 weeks and I'm ok, but each person's hair is different. I bleahced mine blonde (naturally ash brown) and I have pale skin w/a pinkish undertone like you do. I personally prefer an extra light ash blonde color because medium blonde seems too yellow for my liking..but it's all personal preference as far as color goes. Good luck :)

Thanks!! I think that sounds like a lovely color. I wanna try it. I need to wait atleast a month before I start the bleaches though, because I dyed my hair a medium brown and my hair is very dry and has a lot of breakage right now. I'm just trying to use a lot of deep conditioners, along with reconstructors. Wish me luck, and I'll be sure to post pics!! THANKS!
