I posted about how I got my hair cut really really short to get rid of all the black. It was half an inch all over, and the hairdresser put an ash through it because I wanted it light. Now, 4 weeks later, I have half an inch of new growth. But (funny how, with hair, there's always a but eh ! ) I thought my hair was all grey. It isnt. It's grey at temples and front, black still at top and back. What the utter hell do I do now ?? I like the cut, but I want to keep the colour under control & keep it light. Will I go for highlights or what ? Mary.

Forgot to add, what would happen if I put a light ash through it now ? would that make a huge difference to the dark roots or would it just highlight the grey ???
So now your roots are darker than the rest...i see, what a
quandary! Well, to answer your last question, the light ash will
just cover the grey and go over the already ash hair, it won't touch
the black. Sounds to me that if you want lighter hair you're
going to have to keep bleaching your roots and dying light ash.
Either that or stay dark but cover the greys with dye. You could
try highlights but then you'll still have a lot of dark hair in there...
