Hi, I'm new here and I have a few questions.
I have naturally curly hair. It's naturally strawberry blondish-brown and I think it's 3a/3b ish but I'm not sure. What do you think it is? (pic below) Also, what products should I use? Right now, I usually use pantene hydrating curls and that works pretty good, but I've heard the silicones aren't good for your hair, so I've decided to switch. I'm considering Ouidad products or KMS because I've heard that they work good. I'm not too picky on the pricing, providing that it works. Anyone use those? Thanx, any help would be greatly appreciated.
YIKES, your hair looks dry. No offense though. You need a good lightweight leave in conditioner like Neutrogena Triple Moisture SIlk Touch Leave In Cream. Turn your head upside down and lightly apply this through your curls after you shampoo/condition. When your hair is almost dry (no touching or combing!) scrunch a styling cream through your curls like Pantene Frizz Control Smoothing Creme or Back To Basics Green Tea Texturizing Cream. Let hair dry and do not touch!
Goodluck!
PS. As for using Pantene Hydrating Curls, is that their shampoo? You should switch to a L'Oreal shampoo b/c Pantene shampoos are loaded with ammonium xylenesulfate which is too irritating and drying to hair. All other Pantene products are good like conditioners and styling products.
Also, silicone is a girls best friend, and it makes hair luxurious and soft. The bad part is it does build-up, which causes hair to misbehave. All you need to do is use a good clarifying shampoo once every two weeks to get rid of the build up and make your hair products act like new. A great shampoo to get rid of build up is Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo, and it's also a miracle for cleaning make up brushes.
As far as dryness, I think that's the pic quality. (I took it with my camera phone and it was the only pic of my hair that I had lying around on the computer) My hair is really shiny and soft in real life. Dryness is usually not an issue for me.
