Any input on what the safest method (least damaging to your real hair) is? Is fusion less damaging than hairlocs?
Or is there any other method out there that allows your hair to grow healthy and undamaged while it is installed?

I had hair only an inch or so long in September and am now grown to
about 5 healthy inches all over. I wore a wig for a few months to get a
little length going, then started using Protac tapes with wefted hair. The
only way you could damage your hair with Protac is to pull a lot of your
own hair out while removing them. If you use acetone to remove the
tapes they will slip right out. I haven't found any drying or damage to my
hair using this method. It seems to be the fastest, easiest DIY method
one can use to have longer hair instantaneously while healthily growing
out one's own hair.

I'll be honest, I dont think clips in's are as safe as everyone thinks they are. If anything, I constantly had pulling with the clip ins, tugging on my hair, and damage from the hairspray and backcombing I had to do to keep the damn things in. Plus there always seemed to be a couple hairs stuck on the metal teeth that got pulled out. Doesnt seem like a lot, but doing it day after day...
ya know- its all on preference, and my opinion is it mainly depends on who is installing and removing the extensions. if they are done bad and removed bad, then yes u will have a problem no matter what method u use.
the best method to grow out hair is good professional hair products, regular trims and lots of vitamins!
I have to agree with Kalika on the clips ins. I have been wearing them daily for about 5 years, and I am now starting to see breakage. Also, I just can't take the pain of when they pull on those few stray hairs anymore. I just switched to wefts and pro-tac.
Yes they can cause breakage.., but lucky for me my clip ins stayed in witouth any backcombing^^ i only wear them in between installs when im at school or going out. I cant imagine using them every day....all that work xD

Hmmmmm, I'm getting sick of the pulling myself but I notice that if I
adjust them it usually fixes the problem. I also don't use hair spray
on the back combing. I suppose that would help the pulling but cause
damage.
Do you think pro tac is safer than clip-ins? I'd love to live without
pulling from the clips but I'm happy to be able to do deep conditioning
a lot on my own hair.
Pinchbraids are one of the safest methods IMHO. No glue, no pulling, no sharp edges, no teasing and hairspraying, no harsh removers.
I don't like clip-ins, the constand pulling on the small amounts of hair that the clips are attached to can cause traction alopecia when they are worn over long periods.

That's true but tight braids is a lot of wear on your hair and if you've got fine delicate hair it will break.

Thanks guys for all of the input!
I am thinking of doing fusion.
My hairdresser did an install on one
of her other clients and when the extensions
were removed she had so much healthy new growth!
I hope that I have the same results...
