QuoteReplyTopic: Gray hair at age 14?! Posted: March 26 2006 at 2:27pm
I was straightening my hair, straightening the hair on the back of my
head and I noticed a really blonde-looking strand. I grabbed it and
looked closely at the mirror and it looked a bit gray. Well, I
pulled it out cause I didn't want it there and I wanted to look at it
more closely. It's definately gray or a platinum-looking blonde.
Now let me tell you I am a natural redhead and my hair isn't the
light-ish orange-y looking red. My hair is a rather deep red.
But, it has random blonde and brown strands and natural highlights
throughout it. So...do you think it was a gray strand or a blonde
strand? I'm only 14, but I guess people could get a gray hair at
any age? The hair was pretty wirey, too.
Sometimes that happens.. I have dark brown hair and I keep getting bright red strands routinely. I think these weird strands are actually quite common.
I have been getting blonde and bright red strands since my early years in high school. It's mostly genetic, i.e. if your mother got greys at an early age, then you probably will.
I guess people could get a gray hair at any age? Thanks
Yes, you can. I started getting grey hairs at 15....sometimes I have them, sometimes I dont. They are usually in the middle and I have a male friend who got them at that age as well.
I can top all of you! 10 or 11 years old. lol. It was a genetic thing. Do you have any people in your family that go grey early? I got it from my dad's side, so check that.

Actually,I know a woman who was a redhead when she was younger but as she got older it turned blonde? Of course I didn't know her way back then so I don't know if this is correct. But it might be possible?

I have three or four and my friend has had rey hair for as long as I've known her. She's 16 now and I've known her a good three or four years. It's an all over grey which she dyes over.
Most redheads don't go grey, they fade. My 50 yr old mother has strawberry blonde hair and it just keeps getting blonder as she gets older. So that's just a little reassurance for you. :)
If anything, look at your parents for a good indicator, esp. if one of them is red-headed too. I have decent enough genetics--looking at my brunette father, who didn't start going salt and pepper till his mid-40s. My chestnut hair is destined for the grey, but thankfully at 27, I have yet to find but one or two hairs. I'm better off than a few of my coworkers who in their early 30s already have very obvious greying.
You may have found a hair that grew from a damaged hair follicle. Sometimes they will grow in white or wiry. Just take care of your hair and eat a balanced diet (and don't smoke!) and you should be okay.
My sister also got grey hairs at 15, I'm not sure but I have a few light blonde hairs also maybe they'll turn gray someday.. I had an uncle that died at age 86 without any grey hairs or at least they weren't noticeable, I wonder how's that possible
