QuoteReplyTopic: Why relaxers burn Posted: March 31 2006 at 7:27pm
Well why is it that they tell you not to scratch 72 hours before getting relaxed i mean why is it if i scratch on thurday and get my hair done sunday my scalp will burn.
Another thing is why do relaxers burn at all i mean whats in the relaxers that causes the burning sensation
one more thing why dont they just relax the hair it seems as though they always purposely put the relaxer on the scalp i mean the scalp doesnt need to be straightened does it?
plz if you know answer these burning questions

LOL ,, these burning questions,, i like that,,, are u sure
they actually mean to apply to the scalp ,, cuz the hair is
growing right out of there,, so its kinda unavoidable,, i think
they say ot to scratch so as not to irritate make tiny tears in the
scalp where the relaxer could severely irritate since it is a
caustic chemical,,, and i think thats why it stings,, cuz its a very
strong chemical,, that has the ability to dissolve hair if left on
long enough i think
Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED

If you read the directions in the box it will tell you to the distance of between your scalp and new growth should be, before applying a relaxer to it. So you really shouldn't have relaxer put on it and basing your scalp before going always help just incase the relaxer accidently ends up on your scalp.

It almost unavoidible when trying to get the roots straight. If you are going to get relaxer burns are sometime just a part of it and stylist dont have the time tobe "that" careful.
