hey ladies, i'm gonna be going to the beach in about a month and I want to color/dye/bleach my hair.. right now its about 2 inches long all over. I normally spike it up in the front, but my g/f has been hinting to me to grow it out longer and spike it all over. My Idea is to go in and ask for blonde tips all over my hair, so when I spike it up, it has that blonde look on the ends, and the medium brown base color that I have now. At least it looks medium brown to me when I get close to the mirror. At the same time, though if I leave it down, and spike it up in the front this will still look good?. What colors would look good on a guy with brown eyes and a somewhat tan complexion? I'm not pale, I do spend some time in the sun ! I'm thinking more about two blonde colors, maybe a lighter and a darker blonde, just so it doesn't look skunky like it has before.

sorry for the long post, I appreciate anyones Ideas or feedback

  Hi,

I do my brother in laws hair this way, blonde tips. What I do to give a nice light blonde is to bleach the tips using a comb to comb the bleach just on the tips of the spiked hair, leave to develop, then I use wella special blonde's 12/1,permanent colour, which has an ash tone , this will remove any yellow/brassy colours that you usually get with bleaching. Leave the bleach on for 30/45 mins , and then rinse off, dry hair completely bone dry, apply the permanent 12/1 again on spiked hair leave for about 10/15 this is very visual you will see the colour changing pretty quick , when you get the desired colour you want , rinse and shampoo. Hope this helps.

Good Luck

thanks alot !!! I'm probably gonna go get it done somewhere though, i'm not very good at doing my own , unless i'm just doing like my whole head. When I had it done before they just took a hair dryer and blew my hair out all spikey all over and put the color on the ends... now thats its getting longer, do you think they will use foil? I don't want the cap again... it never comes out good!

Hi,

It depends on the stylist, but if you don't want the cap, tell them that , some people say it can be painful, I personally do use foils as well as a comb , or what we call a shoe shine, this is were you apply bleach to a foil , spike up the hair, and rub the bleach on to the tips. The stylist should give you the best advice , now that you say your hair is longer.

Best of Luck , karen

Hi,

Looking at your pics , your hair is too short for foils. Comb or cap would give you the best results.

hey people, I set up an appointment for Wed at 1 p.m. at a local salon, to get my hair cut and dyed. Still haven't decided for sure on a color. is it ok to take in pictures of a haircolor I like, even if its not of a guys hair? I don't want the stylist to get freaked out, I just know what I like and what I want. any other suggestions would be appreciated, and once again if you need to see a pic let me know, and I can email you one or give you a link to some.
