QuoteReplyTopic: Bleached Blonde to Red Not Taking...Help Posted: April 27 2006 at 8:41am
I have had bleached blonde hair for the past 6 months. I was tired of the maintenance and cost so I decided to go back darker. I decided to go dark red. Now I have done this before and I have had no problem. I know that you are supposed to use a protein filler first...which I did. However, my hair still did not grab all of the color. It doesn't look horrible. The red had a orange and red base so the parts that didn't grab the color are more a blah orange and the rest is more of the dark copper red I was going for. The parts that turned out the color they were supposed to be are the most recently bleached parts, (my roots,) and my low lights. I love the parts that are the color they're supposed to be, however, it is really bothering me because I want it to be all one color and the orange is making it look faded.
When I was in Sally's I saw a protien filler that was red. Should I try using this and then dying it again? Should I wait a little while? (The last time my roots were bleached and my hair toned was 2 1/2 weeks ago.) I don't have enough money to go to a salon, so does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

I am from the UK, I would pre-pigment your hair with depth of colour your trying to achieve, I think your term is protein fillers. Pre -pigmenting your hair with a semi colour first will stain the hair (if its red you want , you must apply a red semi) I would also recommend you use a porosity balancer , first before putting any colours near your hair, it sounds as if your hair is so porous that any colour you do apply is just sliding off again.
So apply porosity balancer, then a semi red, then your permanent colour(reds). This should help, good luck.
