bangs... or lack there of

i'm visiting w/my mother in Florida and i wanted to get the layers around my face cut a LITTLE shorter.  i told her to trim them to my cheek... i figure better to go longer than shorter.  well, i guess she didn't understand cause she just snipped them off like she was cutting ribbon.  i couldn't see b/c she made me take my glasses off.  i haven't had bangs since i was in elementary school.  i guess there is nothing i can do, but i have quite a few graduation parties and birthday parties and i've been wearing this headwrap in my hair.  i don't want to wear it anymore, but i don't know what else to do.  i can't even sweep them to the side of my face or pull them back in a clip.  pisses me off.  i'm miserable.  my friends don't understand cause they haven't seen me yet.  oh man... HELP, if there is any!
