QuoteReplyTopic: summer streak stress Posted: May 04 2000 at 2:02am
Today I went in to have my hair foiled for the summer. It was already dyed a dark dark mahogany brown and the foils turned out a nasty brassy-orange and straw-yellow against my mahogany hair. What I wanted was a medium brown base with dark blonde highlights (aka Jennifer Lopez last year). My other option is to strip all the color completely and start over with the two colors. Is this going to completely fry my hair? Do you have any suggestions as to what I could do to achieve the look I want?

Since you started out with mahogany colored hair you already had red in the background. When you lightened the hair it naturally pulled color out and stopped at the orange-gold stage. One thing you might want to try is getting you whole head toned with Shades EQ in a medium ash tone. This would probably tone down the mahogany to a medium brown and the orange hii-lites to a dark neutral blonde.
