Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I’m growing my hair but I’m not sure how often I should have it trimmed and how much? It’s roughly shoulder length with layers, I would say quite dry and splits easily. I deep condition a few times a week and I take supplements: Vitamin B6, Vitamin B, Folic Acid, Celenium A,C and E and Vitamins for the hair. I try not to straighten that much and I don’t blow dry my hair. So aswell as trims, do you have any other advice? Thanks in advance.

Hi Babe, welcome!

When you say that you straighten your hair, do you use a hot flat iron?  If so, that really stresses the hair.  Something I've done is to use gigantic (and I mean gigantic) plastic rollers on the top layer of my hair and clip them in place while the hair dries.  That way, no heat is being used.  It's the heat itself that really causes split ends.

For trims, I'd make sure that whoever is trimming only takes off enough to get rid of the split ends.  How fast your hair gets those split ends is probably the time table you need for trimming.  If you don't use heat on your hair, then you can probably go longer between trims.
