How to measure hair length?

Can someone tell me how to measure my hair length??  Do you start at the top of the head, using a tae ruler or what??

I believe that most people do start at the hairline in the front and measure with a measuring tape.

Yes lmacy2, what Brent describes is what most people use.  Even though it produces a result which exceeds the maximum length of any strand by at least 6 inches, its value is that the measurement produced can be easily reproduced (i.e., it's precise).
