Okay, I'll admit I'm posting out of desperation here.
I have very curly, heat damaged hair. If I stopped using my precious blow dryer and irons, my hair would be a frizzy mess. I tried for two years to get defined curls, with a horific amount of time and money - it doesn't work!
Anyway, my poor damaged locks can't take anymore heat, is there any type of rollers that would produce wavy/straight hair? Most of the damage comes from the blowdryer.

you can try big rollers (depends on how long your hair), and you also may try Bed Head Control Freak Extra Extra Straght. It is said on the bottle :"it's like using a flattening iron without all the damage." On my experience, the effect is not the same as I got with iron, but pretty close.

Hi Charl, What kind of products do you use in your hair? what is your hair regimen? what kind of blow dryer and flat iron do you use?
I ask because those things can make all the difference. I blow dry and flat iron my hair. I've been blow drying all my life and started flat ironing 2 years ago, and my hair looks anything but damage. You can see a picture of it at Folica.com. It is under customer reviews for the Sedu 1 1/2 inch flat iron. It was posted on 3/29/06 and it has my nickname on it (Shary).
Tomorrow I'm also posting a picture of my niece's hair. So it should be up in about 3 days.
Now, for your original question. You can put your hair in regular plastic rollers (you have to know how to do it though). Dry your hair under a head dryer, and just take out the waves the blow dryer. That is how they do it in dominican salons (which are famous for giving people beautiful straight hair) for people with damage hair, or african american hair.
However like I said before, it might be all about your regimen, the products and the tools you are using. Let me know what they are and I might be able to help you.
It's called a roller wrap or roller set. You use big rollers and
sit under a hood dryer or air dry and take it out. Then,wrap it like a
beehive for a while. undo it....and ur good to go.

The beehive wrap works, but A:you have to know how to do it, and B: if you don' take out the waves with the blowdryer, you'll be able to see the marks on your roots.
I used to do the beehive thing, until I discover that magical creation called the Flat iron LOL. I will never again need a beehive wrap.
