QuoteReplyTopic: Tips on tracks...anyone?? Posted: July 30 2006 at 2:24pm
I been gone 4 a minute but I'm posting today!! My hair is very soft and fine and I was wondering what would be the safest way to get tracks. I just got out of braids and my hair was damaged...badly. I got it clipped and it's about 2 inches from collarbone. I want tracks but my friend says I dont need it and it can be damaging and worsen my hair.

I believe the safest way to get tracks is to sew it in. No Bonding!! Bonding the tracks to the hair is awful because when it comes time to take them out the glue can tear and break your hair. But if you just came out of braids and you're trying to reverse damage, I would let your hair rest for 1-2 months. Keep conditoning regularly and then try the sew in tracks. When they braid your hair with the false hair, make sure they use a type that is least damaging. Like toyokolon. ( I think thats what its called, something like that)
I agree with the previous poster however if your hair is already damaged- i would work on strengthening it with protein and moisture prior to considering getting tracks.

I had the same thing happen to me. I recently had individual braids for the first time with human hair and I had them in for 1 month and 1/2 and I had a lot of hair come out and tangled when I removed them. I used my usual braid removal spray that i use for my cornrows, but I never have seen so much hair come out of my head. It got to the point where I had to cut some of the braids out of my hair. I am currently transitioning and was hoping to use cornrows and individuals to transition with, but I'm not sure if I took the individuals out incorrectly or if my hair just didn't like the human hair. I'm so sad about it. Now my friend is threatening to cut my hair but I wanted a long transition because I know I look funny with short hair. I don't know what to do but deep condition and hope my friend forgets.

You probably had a lot of breakeage because the braids were in too
tight. Also, when taking out braids the hair that would have shedd (a
few hundred per day) are trapped in the braids until you take them out.
So you will see more hair when you take them out. Try conditioning your
hair aften and using a breakage treatment like Aphogee. Don't over use
protein treatments because a lot of protein can cause breakage.
