QuoteReplyTopic: Aveda vs Freemans Posted: December 04 2000 at 3:05pm
My mom used to be willing to buy Aveda for me but now she is mad because they keep raising the prices. She told me to find something less expensive. A friend of mine at school recommended any of the shampoos by Freeman. This seems like a radical shift to me but I am open to anything. Any suggestions?
Wow...what a drastic difference. Aveda is top of the line and very expensive..yes I agree...and not for everyone. However Freemans is a drugstore brand and can be harsh for some. Maybe you can get your mom to compromise and go for a product that is gentle but less expensive. ARTec is good but lower priced than Aveda. We carry the Edwin Paul (EP) line which is also salon quality but much lower priced.
I use the EP Luxury shampoo which is, in my opinion similar to the ARTec Smoothing. Jeff uses the Classic shampoo from EP because his hair tends to be oily and mine dry.
I have also heard good things about Clinique`s line but have not had a chance to check it out. It is owned by Estee Lauder who also owns Aveda.
It was designed to be priced to fit somewhere between grocery store brands and salon brands. Edwin Paul shampoos run in the $8 - 10 range but Aveda can run as high as $18-22, depending on what you buy. ARTec is less than Aveda but more than Edwin Paul and Clinique.
I guess it all depends on what you can convince your mother to buy. If you want ask her to email me privately and I would be glad to help if I can with questions and suggestions for more price effective products that will also give you a good shampoo.
I also think that Infusion works wells for a lot and it is also above grocery store brands but below an Aveda or ARTec.
Best wishes, Karen
