I was wondering if anyone knows if it is best to change conditioners (or shampoos) from time to time? What are your fav conditioners for long hair? I have yet to find a fav conditioner actually. Thanks alot and Happy New Years!
Hi there! Unlike your body and certain drugs, your hair does not develop immunity to products. Hair is essentially a chain of dead cells, so it can`t become tolerant to a certain shampoo like a person can with alcohol. However, shampoos and conditioners with cuticle-coating ingredients such as silicones and proteins tend to build up with repeated use. This is why some people mistakenly think their hair is becoming immune to the product after time. But you don`t need to change products--simply use a good, deep cleansing (yet gentle) shampoo every week or as needed. This should solve the problem.
As for a conditioner recommendation, what kind of hair do you have other than long? Is it curly, dry, color-treated, fine, thin or oily?
