da otha day me n my twin sis where talkin bout how badly we needed perms wen  i thought crossed my mind...y do my edges look like sicly off da color purple...there is no new growth in that spot so y does it look so raggedy?? n how can i get my edges 2 stay smooth with out puttin heat on it??

i use some moisturizer or just some water and gently brush them down

when you apply your touch-ups, do you reapply it to your edges as well as your roots? 

if you do, that might be your problem. 
 
U say there's no growth in that area, so if you continuously touch up that same area then maybe its being over processed which could cause the "ceily" affect you're having.
 
However, on the other hand, if over processing is not the cause then lack of moisture is.
 
I like Bronner Bros. Oil Moisturizer with castor oil and aloe.  It doesn't have any harming or drying ingredients and it actually works!
